Is it true that if you lose a large amount of weight your skin will be saggy?

I recently heard or read somewhere that if you are overweight and lose 20 or more pounds then you are going to end up needing plastic surgery to put your skin back in place, because the fat gets burned but the skin stays the same size it was and becomes saggy and gross. I need to lose about 50-75 pounds (to be healthy, not to be pretty or popular or whatever), but I’d almost rather stay the weight I am if I’m just going to end up with a bunch of loose skin hanging all over me, that sounds gross. Is it true that this happens and there’s no way to prevent it? Thanks!

I have lost a total of 30 lbs of fat and gained 5 lbs of muscle. My skin is not saggy or gross in anyway. In fact, because I am losing the weight the skin is tightening back up again and my stretch marks are fading fast. If you eat right and exercise at a good pace your body’s skin will come right along. The only time where people must be considered about the skin not coming back is if you lose the weight too quickly (called extreme weight loss) or you are very old. So don’t worry lose the weight at a good pace and you will be happy and healthy.

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. Therefore, I believe that people should begin to play soccer. Soccer is a very fun sport and this sport helps people’s health fitness. One way, soccer can help a persons health, is by losing weight. Playing soccer gains muscles in the inner body and outer body. Also this sport helps improve your stamina. Another way that this sport helps your health is because bones in the body accumulate and will become stronger. so i’ve done everything possible to loose weight, low carb diets all the way to bulimia and anorexia, i’m extremely active, i jog twice a day for a good hour or two and i play tons of sports. i also have had a personal trainer since i was about 10. i dont eat much at all, very small portions of healthy foods a couple times a day…ive been like this since i was eight and im tired of putting so much effort and money into things like trainers, gym memberships and all kinds of other stuff when i dont even loose weight!(a pound or two at the most) everyone knows that i am that super active girl who eats sooo sooo healthy with an extremely healthy lifestyle but they dont understand why i weigh so mcuh…????please help i have a date with the most popular guy and rated number one hottest in the school..and he asked me a grade 7 out on a date, meanwhile he’s in grade 10. i need to look good for our date!!!! Haha Well, im 15, in high school. A bit overweight, but quite popular. I need to loose weight (dont tell me the methods of losing weight as i already know them – RUN RUN RUN). I think i have got a slow metabolism. Is there any way i can speed it up? AND PLEASE ANSWER THIS: If I have a slow metabolism, can I still lose weight!? Also, how can I get better at school, I am nowhere near motivated enough to try in school at the moment. I picture myself in the future saying to myself now “i wish i dids betta in de skoolz bak then”. Alright, First you want to be on a strict diet, you want to eat lots of clean protein, and drink lots of water… at least 8 glasses a day. Cut down on junk food, limit yourself with that… This is something that worked for me… try to eat healthy at least 5 days a week, then one day eat what ever you want. (But also, remember this, your still a little young yet… you still got plenty of time to get jacked… but its good that you’re starting now.)

I would say workout at least 5 times per week at a local gym. If you don’t belong to a gym you can easily workout at your own home.

Hi,
I am fifteen and have always been a happy optomistic fun person. I was never fat. In may at my highest weight i was 130 pounds and 5"3 and 3/4. I did not care how many people told me i was not fat it was about how i felt, and thats all that mattered to me. I was always in a way popular a school i was never a loner or someone on the outside yet i felt that the only way to get people to accept me or like me more was to loose weight. All my best friends were so skinney and i wanted to be like them. I was not built to be a size zero. I have curves. My chest was not a board and neither was my ass, and thats the way it should be. Well throughout the year i did take laxatives very often from guilt i would cry and cry binge and starve, but in may something changed and i was really going to do it. From late may to early augest i lost 30 pounds and was down to 101 at my lowest ( i think) But i was happy there i liked seeing my bones and feeling skinney and having people concerned it just made me feel as if what i had done was working. I practically didnt eat anything everything i ate was in a small black coffee cup and i had no carbs no sugar nothing. Since the doctors weighed me and i was 101 i felt as if i should gain weight because people were threatning me to or else i would have to get in the hospital and have to see a therapist i didn’t want that to happen so i ate. I am not someone who just eats and fine i binge. I had a cycle for about a week of binging one say not eating the next so i wouldn’t gain weight. The doctors weighed me again and i was 109. I knew that i wasn’t 109 it wasn’t fat the night before i had eaten way to much. Then i took laxatives. I have binged for three days straight and i am going to starve myself for 6 days to at least get back to feeling skinney. I need advice and help. Thanks :)

An Overview

ANOREXIA. No matter how slim she may be, when a girl with anorexia looks in the mirror, she sees an obese person. To lose weight, she will resort to extreme measures. “I became compulsive about counting calories,” says one sufferer. “I carefully planned what I would eat for the week, skipping meals and exercising excessively whenever I thought I’d consumed too many calories. I took up to six laxatives a day.”

Before long, symptoms of anorexia start to show. Weight loss is a common sign, but the sufferer may also experience hair loss, dry skin, fatigue, and loss of bone density. Menstrual periods can become irregular or even cease for several consecutive months.

Perhaps these symptoms sound harmless, but make no mistake—Anorexia is life threatening. One study found that in time, up to 10 percent of sufferers die from their disorder, usually as a result of organ failure or other problems related to improper nutrition.

BULIMIA. Instead of avoiding food, the girl with bulimia binges, consuming as many as 15,000 calories in just two hours! Then she purges what she has eaten, usually by making herself vomit or by taking laxatives or diuretics.

Bingeing is most often carried on in secret. “After school, if I came home before anyone else, I usually binged,” says one girl. “I was careful to hide the evidence.” After the binge, however, guilt set in. “I would feel terrible about myself,” she says, “but I knew that I could easily erase my actions. I’d go upstairs, vomit, and feel not only relieved but also empowered.”

Despite any seeming benefit, purging is dangerous. Laxative misuse weakens the intestinal lining and can lead to inflammation or infection. Frequent vomiting can result in dehydration, tooth decay, damage to the esophagus, and even heart failure.

BINGE EATING. Like the bulimic, a binge eater will consume a large amount of food. The difference is that she will not purge. As a result, the binge eater may be overweight. Some will, however, starve themselves after a binge or engage in rigorous exercise. Sometimes when weight is maintained in this way, family and friends remain oblivious to the binger’s plight.

Like anorexics and bulimics, binge eaters have an unhealthy attitude toward food. One girl says of herself and other sufferers: “Food is our personal, secret friend—maybe our only friend.” Another says: “While bingeing, nothing else seems to matter. Food seems all important—it’s comforting—and then the binge is followed by feelings of guilt and depression.”

Even without purging, bingeing is dangerous. It can lead to diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and a number of other maladies. It can also take a heavy emotional toll.

“I think you have a problem . . .”
If a family member or friend says those words, fight the urge to be defensive. Suppose a friend noticed that the hem on the back of your dress was unraveling. Wouldn’t you appreciate her speaking up before it came apart? The Bible states: “There exists a friend sticking closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24) When someone comes to you with concern over a problem you may have, that one is proving to be just that sort of friend!
